The Education Secretary Justine Greening MP announces Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) Call for Evidence

Read about it here: Education Secretary launches RSE Call for Evidence

This survey needs a public response by 12th February 2018.

Whilst we understand this might be a busy period where some are preocupied with festivities, we encourage everyone to respond to this call for evidence as soon as possible.

We first and foremost solicit everyone to consider this matter prayerfully. This is an opportunity for Christians to not only make their voices heard, but also as an opportunity to withness for the God we serve.

Left to Right: Professor Zachary Calo, Professor Tom Lewis, Reverend Dr Helena Hall, Pastor Dr Brighton Kavaloh, Dr Sana Khan Khurshid

Christ told us to be as “wise as serpents, and harmless as doves” (Matt. 10:16). In a world where, as Seventh Day Adventist Christians, we might increasingly feel besieged by rulings that seem to erode our religious freedoms, we might find it very difficult to exercise that balance of being serpent-like doves, so to speak.

The Annual Report of Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education, Children’s Services and Skills 2016/17

Amanda Spielman, the group’s head, said spreading “shared values” would be one of Ofsted’s main priorities for the coming year.

“Current legislation is inadequate to tackle unregistered schools. It limits our powers and allows institutions to exploit loopholes about definitions of education,” the report says.

Justine Greening (MP)  Secretary of State for Education, Women and Equalities

Gender Recognition Act - 2004
[Access the Gender Recognition Act Here]

The Government announced on 23 July 2017 its intention to revolutionise the Gender Recognition Act.  This Act of Parliament allowed transgender people to change their legal gender status.  It came into effect on 4 April 2005.  However, Justine Greening has announced proposals to 'streamline and de-medicalise' the process to change gender.  The news has received mixed responses for and against such a legislative change.  A consultation on the Gender Recognition Act is earmarked for publication in autumn.
